At LevelUp English, we've had the privilege of teaching students across every corner of Germany, and to be honest, it’s been a journey that has challenged us, shaped us, and, in many ways, humbled us. Our curriculum has been tested in all kinds of environments, from bustling city schools to quiet rural classrooms, and we’ve learned a lot along the way.
One thing’s for sure: no two schools are alike. We’ve worked with class trips that included 116 teenagers, all brimming with energy and excitement, and we’ve also been part of intimate school projects where fewer than 10 kids gathered in a small countryside village. Both situations required a different approach, but the one thing that never changed was our commitment to providing the best learning experience possible—no matter where we were or who we were teaching.
And when we say we’ve gone far and wide, we mean it. We’ve taught in places where every student had an iPad at their fingertips, and we’ve also been in schools where not a single person had internet access. We’ve hopped on private school shuttles to get to our destinations, but we’ve also walked through farmland fields, dodging cows and crops, just to make it in time for the morning bell.
Our favourite memory? We once stumbled upon a town so small, it didn’t even have a bakery. It was one of those moments that made us smile and realise just how vast the range of schools we work with really is.
The beauty of working in so many different environments is that it’s allowed us to fine-tune and stress-test our curriculum in ways we never expected. When you teach in such varied settings, you quickly learn how to adapt on the fly. We’ve had to get creative, sometimes ditching tech-heavy lessons in favour of hands-on activities that don’t rely on screens, or switching up our teaching style to fit the energy of a large group versus the intimacy of a small class.
But through all the changes and challenges, one thing has remained constant: our belief in the power of a flexible, adaptable curriculum. We’ve seen it work time and time again, whether we’re teaching city kids in a high-tech classroom or rural students in a place where the nearest town doesn’t even have a café.
At the end of the day, it’s not about having the perfect setting or ideal resources. It’s about meeting students where they are, understanding their needs, and creating an experience that resonates with them. That’s what we strive to do at LevelUp English, and it’s why we’re so proud of the work we’ve done across Germany.
