A five-day class trip, right by the lake, full of creativity, movement, laughter and English from morning to night. That’s what the students of Grundschule am Arkonaplatz (Berlin) experienced during their unforgettable english class trip at the beautiful Werbellinsee.
Together with LevelUp English, this Grade 6 group spent an immersive week at the Seezeit Resort. With hands-on workshops, active afternoon adventures, and cozy evening events, the trip felt like a real highlight of the school year and a perfect example of how English learning can be playful, confidence-building, and truly memorable at primary school age.

✨ What Made This Week So Special
Even before the trip started, excitement was high and for good reason. The class had worked incredibly hard to raise money for the trip themselves, which created a strong sense of pride and shared motivation. For the teacher, it was also likely the last class trip before retirement, making the week feel extra meaningful. What made this English class trip / englisch klassenfahrt stand out:
🎭 A creative All-Stars style programme with a strong theatre focus
🇬🇧 English as the natural everyday language: in games, meals, activities, and teamwork
🫂 Lots of confidence and team-building tasks, designed especially for this group
⚡️A perfect balance of workshops in the morning, adventures in the afternoon, and bonding moments in the evening
🎭🎶 Morning Workshop Highlights
Each morning had a clear learning structure, but never felt like school. English was simply the shared language for everything they created.
🎭 Theatre Workshops (Main Focus)
Improvisation, storytelling, and role play helped students break out of their comfort zones. Even quieter students found a safe space to speak up — and grew noticeably more confident day by day.
🌱 Sustainability Elements
Through playful challenges and discussions, students explored sustainability topics in everyday life — fully in English and always connected to real situations they could relate to.
🎤 Music Moments
Rhythm, lyrics, and group performances brought English to life emotionally. Music made speaking and experimenting feel easy, fun, and motivating.
💡 Entrepreneurship Inputs
Students worked on simple future-skills: brainstorming ideas, solving problems in teams, and presenting outcomes — all in English, without fear of making mistakes.
The mix was ideal for this age group: creative, active, supportive, and full of small success moments.
🏞️ Active Afternoons Full of Adventure
To make the trip feel like a real englisch klassenfahrt, each afternoon included a shared highlight:
🔎 Tuesday: Scavenger Hunt (2 hours)
A treasure-hunt-style adventure across the resort grounds with clues, mini missions, and team challenges. English naturally became the language of cooperation.
🎨 Wednesday: Arts & Crafts in the Creative Workshop
A calmer, creative block where each student designed and decorated their own item. A perfect moment for focus, conversation, and pride in their results.
⚽️ Thursday: LevelUp Olympics / Field Games (2 hours)
Movement, strategy, teamwork and lots of laughter. The Olympics were one of the biggest highlights — and a real boost for group spirit.
🌙 Evenings to Remember
Evenings were all about community, fun, and winding down, while keeping English alive in an easy, playful way:
🌟 Monday: Welcome Quiz Night (1.5 hours)
The perfect start to the week — lots of laughs, energy, and confidence building.
🍿 Tuesday: Movie Night (hosted by the resort)
Relaxing together, sharing snacks, and chatting about favourite scenes afterwards.
🪩 Wednesday: Disco Night
A high-energy evening full of dancing and joy — a total favourite for the whole group.
🎉 Thursday: Party Games + Birthday Celebration
A fun final night with games, team challenges, and a special birthday moment that brought everyone together one last time.

💬 Feedback from the teacher
🧩 Why It Worked So Well
This week worked because students weren’t just “participants.” They were active creators and real teammates.
✅ Every student had a role in the group
✅ English was experienced, not tested
✅ Small teams created space for feedback, safety and fun
✅ Theatre activities built courage, voice and presence
✅ The programme balanced creativity and action, keeping motivation high all week
In short: They didn’t learn English about life. They learned it through life.
